HOME SERVICES REALTORS ROOFING RESTORATION Q&A OUR WORK REFERENCES CONTACT US

You are here: ROOFING

General Home Repair, LLC offers full replacement residential roofing.  We can provide you with all your residential roofing needs.  We are fully insured for your protection and offer one on one contact with the owner.  Our low overhead gives us the ability to give you quality roof replacement for your residence at a lower cost.

We started off roofing after being in business for several years doing home repairs.  We found, as we did with the other business we do, most people do not do what they say.  There are many roofers out there; here are some tips to selecting a roofer:

The following guidelines will help in your decision:

1) Check for a permanent place of business, telephone number, tax I.D. number, and a business license.  Many roofing companies are storm chasers.  They may have a local "office" but are not from Oklahoma.  Ask and see where they are from.

2) Insist on seeing copies of the contractor's liability insurance coverage and workers' compensation certificates. Make sure the coverage is in effect through the entire job.

3) Look for a company with a proven track record that readily offers client references and a list of completed projects. Call these clients to find out whether they were satisfied.  Oklahoma does not require roofing contractors to carry licenses.  Anyone can be a "Contractor" in Oklahoma.  Make sure they do have an Oklahoma Business License.

4) Insist on a written proposal and examine it for complete descriptions of the work and specifications, including approximate starting and completion dates and payment.

5) Call your local Better Business Bureau to check for any complaints that have been filed. http://www.thebbb.org/search.html

6) Have the roofing contractor explain his project supervision and quality control procedures. Request the name of the person who will be in charge, how many workers will be required and the estimated time of completion.  Many companies are huge and have a lot of people doing projects.  Make sure you know who you will be dealing with when the project is being done.  Beware of contractors who talk down their competition instead of talk up themselves.  There is probably a reason for it.

7) Carefully read and understand any roofing warranty offered and watch for provisions that would void it. Keep a healthy skepticism about the lowest bid and highest bid.  Many factors govern price.  Suppliers, overhead, crews all factor in price.  Just because it is expensive does not make it the best and the least expensive does not make it the worst.  Most roofing companies work off a markup.  So the more you spend on materials the more the markup will be.  Be aware of unnecessary add-ons.  Remember, price is only one criterion for selecting a roofing contractor. Professionalism and quality workmanship also should weigh heavily on your decision.
